Clint Studio shared a series of illustrations for Mission Pilots and the DropKick Apollo that really caught the attention of many, including me. The illustrations feature a vintage look with a comic-style that is based on the space theme but brings inspiration from volcanoes and chemical elements like carbon.
The illustrations depict different scenarios, from space missions to space stations, and even planets and galaxies. The use of vintage colors and textures gives the illustrations a unique and nostalgic feel that transports the viewer to a different era. The comic-style adds a fun and dynamic element to the illustrations, making them not only visually stunning but also engaging and interactive.
One of the most striking elements of the illustrations is the way they incorporate the inspiration from volcanoes and chemical elements like carbon, but also brings other themes that make them look like from the 80s illustrations we could see in skateboard decks from Powell Peralta and Santa Cruz.. The illustrations feature different planets and landscapes that resemble volcanoes, with fiery eruptions and ash clouds. The use of carbon in the illustrations adds a sense of depth and realism, making the illustrations feel like they are alive and in motion.
Mission Pilots and the DropKick Apollo's illustration and animation work is a must-see for anyone interested in space, vintage art, and animation. The illustrations capture the imagination and transport the viewer to a different world, making them a perfect addition to any collection or display.
